Gorguts have just started of their tour to support an album (EP) that hasn’t been released yet. Maybe a bit odd, particularly as the album wasn’t on sale at the merchbooth either. But anyway, Gorguts is a very interesting band, Obscura is a ground breaking album. They brought no less than three other bands on this tour.

Suffocation @ De Helling, 13 March 2016
The mighty Suffocation is touring Europe again, with a new drummer again – Kevin Tally- and a new stand-in singer. They brought two supports on tour, but two more were playing on this day. I skipped those first two bands though, as it started early in the evening and I wanted to do different things. […]
Netherlands Death Fest, 013 Tilburg, 28 February 2016
Now that the Neurotic Death Fest discontinued, the organisation of Maryland Death Fest stepped in and organised a similar festival in the enlarged 013 venue. 3 days of death metal bands in three halls. I skipped the first couple of days as there was only one or two bands each that I liked. However the […]
Phlebotomized @ Popcentrale, Dordrecht, 20 February 2016
A couple of 1990s Dutch death metal bands teamed up for a gig at the talent stage in Dordrecht’s Popcentrale. Back then, there were many bands around in the Netherlands playing death metal of some sort. Many were actually really good, and only a few actually really got to make albums and do tours. Most […]
Ophis, Ataraxie @ Baroeg, Rotterdam, 19 February 2016
Two veteran European doom death bands decided to team up and tour Europe together for a little more than a week and brought a Mexican band with them. The last stop of this tour was in the Baroeg in the town of Rotterdoom. The opening act Majestic Downfall were about to start as I entered […]
Tribulation @ Gebr Nobel, Leiden, 28 January 2016
The Swedish Tribulation is a bit of an odd band. Starting out as a more or less typical Swedish death metal band on their debut album, they moved in a far more progressive direction with their second album. Long songs, with a firm basis in death metal but with lots of lead guitar work going […]
Ceremony, Officium Triste, Kurb Saatus @ Get Rhythm, Ridderkerk, 23 January 2016
After some 20 years the cult Dutch death metal act Ceremony have resurfaced. This was the first time they played live again, as a sort of try-out. Coincidently, they shared a gig with the two supporting bands as well. Too bad the band Profane wasn’t added as well to complete the line-up of 1995. Kurb […]
Hobbs’ Angel of Death @ Little Devil, Tilburg, 4 December 2015
Peter Hobbs has been quite active the last couple of years. I think this is the third European tour in three years. This time around with Swedish revived death metal band Interment. And as before a stop in the Little Devil cafe was planned. The venue added another support act, namely Lucifericon which is a […]
Pentagram Chile @ Little Devil, Tilburg, 29 October 2015
While a storm raged over the Netherlands, I drove to Tilburg to see the Chilean Pentagram. I already had settled on not seeing Pentagram on this tour as the previous date coincided with Swallow the Sun, the Saturday before. This gig however, was added very late to the tour. It started quite early on the […]
Swallow the Sun @ Baroeg, Rotterdam, 28 November 2015
Swallow the Sun seemed to have been in a rather creative mood lately, releasing a 3-disc album, a couple of weeks ago. The started a tour to support only shortly after the release. This tour hit the Baroeg on a dark, rainy, autumn Saturday evening, which actually sets a perfect mood for some doom / […]
