Malevolent Creation was back in Europe, this time original guitarist Phil Fasciana came along as well. In fact since the previous gig a few years ago only the drummer remained. The gig start very early and so I missed the most of Necrotesque a Dutch band that plays old school death metal.
The second support slot was for Purgatory. An German death metal band I had never heard of, yet the seem to be around since 1993. The guitar sound was quite low in the mix so it was hard to make out the riffs. It didn’t sound too bad in general, but rather standard death metal. And even with 10 albums or so under their belt they opted to play a cover tune. Not a bad song they picked with Demigod’s As I Behold I Despise.
Then it was already time for Malevolent Creation. The majority of the set only consisted of songs from the 90s which is also their best material. They took some longer breaks in between the songs as it, maybe because of the heat. Other than that they played quite tight. However there were no guitar solos in the songs. A pretty good gig though.
