The Chilean band Pentagram started in the year 1985 and hence this year they did some gigs in Europe to celebrate the 40 years since the band started. Can’t really say existed as there have been a long hiatus in this period. There was no support act this Sunday evening in Tilburg, so Pentagram started at 20.55 sharp. After a tape intro, they kicked off with El Imbunche – a song of their latest album. Style wise they never changed much since the first demos. Pretty fast death / thrash, played with quite some aggression and a little faster still than on the albums. Basically the way it is meant to play. The majority of songs are from their demo era. Profaner, Demented, Temple of Perdition. Evil Incarnate, Spell of the Pentagram. For that song Wannes Gubbels of Pentacle joined the band on stage to do the vocals. They played La Fiuca of The Malifice (strangely only their debut album from 2013). Continuing with the Malifice (not the title track though), Fatal Prediction, another new songs Possessor and the last song was the song that I got to know them by, by way of the cover of Napalm Death did of Demoniac Possession. Quite cool gig.
