Kreator @ 013, February 2005

After the release of their latest album ‘Enemy of God’ it was time for Kreator to tour the world and provide a display of what thrash metal means. At 18 february the band came to 013 in Tilburg, with 3 supports.

I can be very short about the first two supports. I didn’t know them before and I care neither about Hatesphere nor about Ectomorph. Not my thing.

The third band was Dark Tranquillity. A Swedish melodic death metal band, which I hadn’t seen live before. They promoted their new album ‘Character’ and hence have the set consisted of songs from that album. For the rest they played some songs of their previous album, including ‘Punish my heaven’ which was th only song off the set that I knew. Anyway, their peformance wasn’t very enthusiastic. All in all a rather mediocre performance.

Then finally, the time had come for Kreator to take the stage. After the intro, Choir of the Damned, they started a show full of power and aggression with little talking in between playing many songs back to back. The sound was pretty good and the band were having fun. The setlist consists of a good blend of old and new material including many classics such as ‘Pleasure to Kill’, ‘Flag of Hate’ and ‘Riot of Violence’. The latter was sung by Ventor with Mille providing backing vocals.
